Agriculture workshop conducted by YCMOU for rural youth – Times of India


NASHIK: A workshop was organised at Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) on Friday to guide the youths of rural background.

The workshop was a joint venture with Arya Prakalp (Attracting & Retaining Youths in Agriculture), Agricultural Research Council of India, New Delhi where the youngsters of the age group of 18 to 35 participated in large numbers. The concept of the workshop was to provide special technical training to youngsters and support them in carrying out their own businesses.

The workshop explained the contribution of new technologies that is important for agricultural development and increase in the yield of agriculture. They were told that how necessary it is to try various agricultural supplementation businesses and post harvesting process along with regular crop production.

Also, they were told about the special efforts being initiated by the Government of India to impart knowledge and skills to the rural youth in the use of these various technologies and to increase their participation in agriculture.

The workshop threw light upon fruits and vegetable processing, grain processing, agricultural mechanisation, domestic poultry etc. Guidance was also given on business matters and students were selected for technical training under ARYA project.
