MANGALURU: HackVerse, a 24-hour national level hackathon, will be held at National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) Surathkal, on Saturday and Sunday.

HackVerse is an initiative by NITK Surathkal, to serve as a platform to encourage enthusiastic young minds to brainstorm on solutions to challenging issues affecting society.

This hackathon is part of the year-long diamond jubilee celebrations of the institute. Commemorating 60 years of NITK, the hackathon provides a platform for innovations, where developers can test and showcase their potential to the best of their abilities.

The hackathon has seen around 2,500 registrations from prestigious colleges including several IITs and NITs and many reputed private universities from all over India, making it one of the largest student-organised hackathons in India.

With around 200 talented candidates making the cut after an intense review process based on their technical profiles, the organisers expect the event to be a resounding success, and anticipate the presentation of innovative solutions to real-world problems. The event will also involve keynotes and workshops by executives from renowned companies such as Digital Ocean, Elastic, Wells Fargo, as well as from startups like Devfolio. The hackathon offers cash prizes of over Rs 1.8 lakh to the top three teams, and other exciting goodies and prizes worth Rs 85 lakh for participants.

Some notable names at HackVerse are R Bharat Raizada (senior vice-president, Wells Fargo & Company) and Divakar Kamath (director, Google Cloud India), who will grace the occasion as the chief guests. Ashutosh Verma (analyst manager at Wells Fargo), Saurabh Gupta (senior developer advocate at DigitalOcean), Sharad Srivastava (senior engineering manager at Adobe Systems), Aravind Putrevu (senior developer advocate at Elastic) and Denver Jude (community manager at Devfolio) will be the other executives who will be present at the event.
